Crisis Management

One of AFAC's goals is to promote responsible, humane animal care within the livestock industry. We work with producers who may be facing limited options when caring for their livestock.

AFAC encourages producers to call the Livestock Care ALERT help line 1-800-506-2273 if they or someone they know needs assistance with the care of their livestock. This service combines a confidential livestock care help line and aresponse team of producers.

AFAC works closely with the Alberta SPCA, whose Peace Officers provide livestock protection services throughout the province, the RCMP and Alberta Veterinary Medical Association.
