Humane Transportation of Animals

This review by the AFAC Review Committee was conducted from May 1994 to December 1994 .

The purpose of the review was to collect necessary documentation and industry input to lead a national policy that gives Canada a credible, world respected humane transportation and compliance system.

A National Steering Committee oversaw the review and drafted recommendations for a humane livestock transportation system. The members included representatives from Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada; the Ontario Trucking Association; Dairy Farmers of Canada, representing producers; Canadian Federation of Humane Societies; Canadian Veterinary Medical Association; Canadian Meat Council. Representatives of the Regional Consultations were also on the committee.
