Promoting responsible animal care and seeking continued improvement to the well-being of livestock is AFAC's mandate. Developing a positive attitude towards livestock welfare amongst those who own and handle animals is key.
AFAC believes reaching out to Alberta's rural youth, especially those in 4-H will reap long term benefits. This is accomplished through:
- 4-H L.A.W. (Learning about Animal Welfare), a well-researched, easy-to-present package that is integrated into all 4-H livestock species projects books. Click on the following links to view / download:
- Livestock Handling for Youth workshops targeted at 4-H and other youth groups. AFAC’s presenter, Jennifer Woods, a former 4-H Leader, emphasizes understanding animal behavior and the benefits of low stress handling.
