The ALERT Line is an anonymous call line dedicated to providing producer-to-producer support and responding to public concerns for farm animal welfare. The ALERT Line is also available for self-reporting, offering assistance to those who may be experiencing barriers to caring for their animals. Striving to assist animals before they are in distress, the ALERT Line Resource Team draws on expertise from a network of professionals to provide education and resources and, when necessary, collaborates with Alberta SPCA and the RCMP to ensure positive outcomes.
Since its inception in 2009, the ALERT Line has managed 1,033 cases, helping to secure the welfare of 75,250 farm animals.
